Bye Bye Partey..... Incomings as Arsenal Set for Big Moves

 


Midfielder Thomas Partey has left Arsenal at the expiration of his contract. He left after the club could not agree a new deal for the 32-year-old Ghanaian, who joined from Atletico Madrid. Wages disagreement was the major cause of the collapsed deal. Partey reportedly wanted more or the 220k per week he was earning.



Arsenal have now poached Christian Noorgard rom Brentford as Partey's direct replacement though both players have different playing styles. While Partey bring calmness and stability to the midfield and drives the team forward from the defensive midfield, Noorgard is more of breaking down attacking threats from the opposition before reaching the defenders.


That sorted out, Arsenal are on the verge of announcing Martin Zubimendi as another big name summer signing. The Spain international unveiling is delayed due to the FFP rule. He could be unveiled anytime soon having completed his medical in London more than a week ago.


Zubimendi is expected to join the midfield trio of Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Mikel Merino for a place in the starting line up. Merino might have to give way int he planned set up next season. We keep our hands folded to see things unfold.


Also, Arsenal fell short in the attack last season with no known or recognised senior striker available in the second half of the season. Merino actually became the Gunners' point man as they struggled for goals in the second half of the season. Gabriel Jesus, Kai Haverts, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka were injured at various points in the season.


It was so bad that Arsenal had to rely on Ethan Nwaneri and Raheem Sterling for the goals.


Meanwhile, Arsenal have been in pursuit of Victor Gykeres and Benjamin Sesko since last summer and it''s expected that at least one of the two would become an Arsenal player this summer.

Nigeria Cannot Afford a One Party System

  It is not a secret that the ruling APC is bent on destroying the opposition and coast home in the 2027 General Election. It has dismantled the the opposition PDP and the upcoming ADC that Nigerians fear that the 2027 elections might just be a coronation exercise despite their displeasure with the ruling party. FIFA U20 World Cup: Argentina Await Flying Eagles Battle in Round of 16

  The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will take on Argentina in the round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile. The Nigerian lads finished third in Group  to earn a place as one of the best losers after a pulsating 1-1 draw against Colombia early Monday morning. Captain, Daniel Bameyi scored from the penalty spot for his consecutive penalty goal to rescue a point against Colombia, who had scored earlier.
