Eliozu Community Bans Keke Napep to Tackle Insecurity
The leadership of Eliozu Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State has resolved to ban commercial tricycle, popularly, called Keke Napep in a bid to tackle insecurity int he area.
The resolution from leaders of Eliozu community in Obio/Akpor local government, Rivers state of restricting tricycle operators known as Keke drivers within it communities has also been welcomed by residents of the community.
Some residents in an interview with our correspondent said despite that Keke made it easier for them to access various places in the community due to the deplorable state of roads, such resolution was for the benefit of securing lives and property following the resurgence of criminality.
In his reaction, Chairman of Eliozu Council of Chiefs, Dr. Emeka Orlu said restriction of Keke operations within the communities was aimed at preventing creams from it residents including those doing business in the area.
Dr. Emeka revealed that since such restriction was implemented residents and it environments have witnessed peace including the reduction of crime activities.
He however, advised community leaders to work collectively to achieve peace in their various communities
Residents who also spoke confirmed that some negative activities and accidents usually experienced from Keke operators have been reduced in the community.
