AWCON 2024: Govt Rewards Super Falcons with National Honours, Cash and Houses



In an unprecedented gesture, the Nigerian Government has announced cash rewards, houses and national awards to the victorious Super Falcons players and officials.


President Bola Tinubu, at the Aso Rock Villa on Monday evening announced a package of 100 thousand dollars for each player, a three bedroom apartment at the Renewed Hope Housing Estate and national honours of OON to the players and coaches. Asisat Oshoola's was upgraded to MON having received OON previously.

The coaches also got 50 thousand dollars each plus the other awards, The Nigerian Governors Forum also gave the players 10 million naira each.


The President during the event received the trophy won by the Super Falcons and individual awards of the MVP and best goalkeeper won by Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiamaka Nnadozie respectively. He thanked the players for their doggedness.

Nigeria had rallied from 2-0 down in the final match at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat on Saturday night to make a remarkable comeback and won 3-2 to clinch their 10th title. The triumph saw the team receive a video call by the president.

In the meantime, Nigerian quartet of Ajibade, Nnadozie, Michelle Alozie and Esther Okoronkwo made the first CAF eleven.


The team had earlier arrived aboard Value Jet Airliner about 2pm and had an open bus parade from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to Aso Rock Villa and then had a dinner party later on.

Nigeria Cannot Afford a One Party System

  It is not a secret that the ruling APC is bent on destroying the opposition and coast home in the 2027 General Election. It has dismantled the the opposition PDP and the upcoming ADC that Nigerians fear that the 2027 elections might just be a coronation exercise despite their displeasure with the ruling party. FIFA U20 World Cup: Argentina Await Flying Eagles Battle in Round of 16

  The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will take on Argentina in the round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile. The Nigerian lads finished third in Group  to earn a place as one of the best losers after a pulsating 1-1 draw against Colombia early Monday morning.
