AWCON: Super Falcons to Battle Zambia in Quarter final

 



Super Falcons of Nigeria remained on top of Group B and will take on Zambia in the quarterfinals of the ongoing Women's Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Morocco.


Last night, the Nigerian ladies fired blank against Algeria to end the group on seven points while Algeria are second with five points after three matches. Botswana also came from a goal down to defeat Tunisia 2-1 and will have to wait for the final group C matches  later on Monday to know if they made it to the last eight as one of the best third placed teams.


In the already determined quarter final matches, Nigeria will take on Zambia in a repeat of the third place match in the previous edition. The Zambians won one nil to take the bronze medal and left the Super Falcons with no medals for the first time in their history of participation.


Morocco, who topped Group A, will take on Algeria amid political tension between the two countries.

South Africa, Ghana, Tanzania all have stakes at play as they conclude the group stage matches Monday night.
