Flash Flooding Devastate Eliozu, other parts of Port Harcourt

 Incessant rains on Monday and Tuesday in Port Harcourt Metropolis have caused flooding and damage to commercial activities and loss of property worth millions of Naira.

In Eliozu Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, the flood around the flyover submerged businesses and shops as many of them were closed for business. The ever-busy bus terminal was flooded as most commuters resorted to trekking far distance to their various locations after work on Tuesday.

Our correspondent who visited some parts of Eliozu witnessed the flooding that affected areas like Salvation Ministry and other businesses in the area.

A mini bus driver expressed his frustration with the flood that made them lose patronage on Tuesday. "As you can see, we have no passengers as the flood water has blocked the road and they had to ignore us and trek to their various homes. I don't even know what to do now. Government should help us", he said.

Another commuter lamented that moist people seeking their daily sustenance went hungry on Tuesday as they could not go out to hustle for the day. He appealed to the government to clear the waterways around the canal to allow free movement of water, While a clergyman who identified himself as Chinedu Opara, who lives in Elelenwon but came to pick up his son from school at Eliozu blamed some scrap dealers of blocking the waterway and urged the government to do something urgently about the drainage system in Eliozu.

Other parts of Port Harcourt like NTA Road in Mgbouba, was locked in traffic jam on Monday and Tuesday as a result of the rains while Akpajo junction in Eleme also witnessed traffic jam which left motorists stranded for several hours.

  It is not a secret that the ruling APC is bent on destroying the opposition and coast home in the 2027 General Election. FIFA U20 World Cup: Argentina Await Flying Eagles Battle in Round of 16

  The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will take on Argentina in the round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile. The Nigerian lads finished third in Group  to earn a place as one of the best losers after a pulsating 1-1 draw against Colombia early Monday morning.
