Al Hilal Stun Man City in FIFA Club World Cup

Pep Guardiola's side Manchester City suffered an extra time loss to Saudi Arabia side Al Hilal in the round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

Pep had earlier cried out over the fixture congestion and expressed fears that fatigue could hamper his players' performance next season.

Saudi Arabia have spent so much on sports with many high-profile boxing matches taking place and clubs making monumental offers for European based players, many could not resist the offers. Seems to be paying off as we could see last night.

City boss Pep Guardiola said afterwards:"It is a pity. We have been so good here, it has been an incredible journey. We allowed them to run in transitions but we created a lot of chances. We tried until the end and congratulations to them.

"It is football, it happened in transitions. We knew their quality. Maybe it's once in a lifetime to be here and we wanted to keep going.

"When a team behaves like we have, I said thank you to the players. Hopefully we can make a good season."

Inter Milan also exited the tournament following a 2-0 loss to Brazilian side Fluminense.
