Wild Reactions as England Women Reach Euros Last Four

 



England were on the verge of losing out of the 2025 Euros when two quick goals in the 78th and 80th minutes settled the nerves at home and took the quarter final match to extra time.


England trailed as early as the second minute as Sweden showed class from the blast of the whistle. A defensive mix up by a lethargic England saw the Scandinavian side race to a lead while it was doubled before 30 minutes.


England laboured and it paid off later on with Chloe Kelly pulling strings with two assists as the ladies came back from the dead. The extra time produced no goal but the penalty drama that ensued was almost unprecedented.

England won 3-2 on the night in the penalty shoot out but after both sides missed- or goalkeepers kept them out- as the champions proved their mettle once again on a difficult night.

England defender and stalwart Lucy Bronze speaking to womenseuro.com:

"It's just so overwhelming. Sweden were unbelievable - both teams deserve to go through, if I'm being honest. We didn't start particularly well; they were really strong in the game, but to finish the way we did in a penalty shoot-out, when it's sudden death - what a way to win a game.

"That's what this tournament is about - two teams going head to head and then going right to the wire.


England heroine Hannah Hampton reflected on the emotional rollercoaster of the match:

"We are very happy and you can see all the celebrations going around with the fans, and they were behind us the whole game, even when we were 2-0 down. They knew that we could bring this back, and you don't ever write us off.

"It was stressful watching, it was stressful playing. I was hoping that every single time I saved one, someone from our team would score just so that we have a bit of a cushion. Just happy and relieved."

  It is not a secret that the ruling APC is bent on destroying the opposition and coast home in the 2027 General Election. It has dismantled the the opposition PDP and the upcoming ADC that Nigerians fear that the 2027 elections might just be a coronation exercise despite their displeasure with the ruling party. FIFA U20 World Cup: Argentina Await Flying Eagles Battle in Round of 16

  The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will take on Argentina in the round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile. The Nigerian lads finished third in Group  to earn a place as one of the best losers after a pulsating 1-1 draw against Colombia early Monday morning. Captain, Daniel Bameyi scored from the penalty spot for his consecutive penalty goal to rescue a point against Colombia, who had scored earlier.
