This Corntry: Agbado Series 1
PBAT actually said: "emilokan" during an infamous rant in Abeokuta in the build up to the 2023 General Election. He, at the occasion of APC Stakeholders, even berated the sitting Gov Dapo Abiodun. BAT then described the governor as "Eleyii", a completely derogatory term for those that understand Yoruba. He spoke Yoruba all through. After that "Yoruba Ronu" emerged. It was reminiscent of what was called "parapo" in those days. It simply means solidarity. Some of us were called "omo ale" for not agreeing with "Ronu's" thinking that it was Yoruba's turn to return to the presidency. In context, Ronus want to get the presidency for the benefits of the Yoruba. He neither spared the late PMB. In the process, that hybernating word: "lule" came back to life! He regaled the stunned audience how as GMB, the former military Head of State, "luled" thrice and wept. He insisted he had to console the disconsolate GMB and later headed the political juggernaut that eventually brought him to power- and displaced a ruling party for the first time in the history of the country.
Perhaps, they are right, cause right now most juicy posts in the current PBAT administration had been reserved for the Ronu tribe. Whether it has trickled down to the Ronu plebeians is a story for another day. Many of us not members of Ronu felt having been president for 8 years under OBJ and vice president for another 8 years, it should naturally move to the South East, with PO most viable. South South had also had a shot at it.
But the man with a unique cap design won despite all the obstacles mounted on his path. We need to give him credit for that. From the party primaries, the Jagaban proved himself and outspent the rest, including a CRA, a small boy from the South South, who think he could challenge the gods. In the election proper, dollars continued to flow and even my beloved Rivers State was not spared. NEW held sway here and boldly did anti party after his failed presidential and vice presidential bid. Something he swore never to do. But who ever takes him seriously for his doublespeak?
The point today is that BPAT is now showing us to years after why a "town hall is different from Bulaba blu... Emilokan or as others put it.. emilocorn... is showing us why he was desperate for it.. power for the sake of it.. He's now globe trotting... declaring state of emergency in peaceful states and ignoring states that have recorded unprecedented bloodshed since he took office... things he criticised OBJ for when he was governor and GEJ outside the office. He led PMS subsidy removal protests in Lagos but his first official announcement on his inauguration was the removal of subsidy.
Kindly take note that GEJ borrowed to pay salaries in the height of crude oil sales at 130 dollars per barrel, the late PMB borrowed to pay subsidy. But PBAT is borrowing in trillions now despite removing subsidy and promised to use the money to boost infrastructure. While federal roads are decrepit, we have been forced to have a multi billion dollars coastal road from Lagos to Calabar with a contreact awarded without due process..
OBJ, PMB and PBAT have used Nigeria's presidency to stage a powerful come back from their average lives, health to super rich and healthy but Nigeria continues to be sick. Perhaps AAA is next as he has also been desperately running from pillar to post to clinch the coveted prize...
