Nigerian Clubs Seek Continental Glory

 


Remo Stars, Rivers Utd, Kwara Utd and Abia Warriors are all busy this weekend in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

Rivers Utd are already in Congo for the CAF Champions League match against FC Les Aigles du at the Stade des Martyrs, in Kinshasa.

The Rivers United contingent left Port Harcourt on Wednesday for Lagos via Value Jet Airliner where they connected to Congo using Ethiopian Airliner on Thursday. The team has since arrived and ready for the match slated for Saturday afternoon.



NPFL Champions, Remo Stars will welcome US Zilimadojou to the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta in the CAF Champions League preliminary round match. The club arrived Abeokuta on Thursday.


In the CAF Confederation Cup, President Federation Cup winners Kwara United will travel to Accra to face Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, with the return leg slated for September 28 at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena.



Debutants Abia Warriors are also braced for their first taste of continental football. 





They welcome Mali’s Djoliba AC to the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Sunday before heading to Bamako for the second leg a week later.

Nigeria Cannot Afford a One Party System

  It is not a secret that the ruling APC is bent on destroying the opposition and coast home in the 2027 General Election. It has dismantled the the opposition PDP and the upcoming ADC that Nigerians fear that the 2027 elections might just be a coronation exercise despite their displeasure with the ruling party. Good for PDP, some people might say, as the then ruling party from 1999 till 2015 introduced impunity into politics. FIFA U20 World Cup: Argentina Await Flying Eagles Battle in Round of 16

  The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will take on Argentina in the round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile. The Nigerian lads finished third in Group  to earn a place as one of the best losers after a pulsating 1-1 draw against Colombia early Monday morning. Captain, Daniel Bameyi scored from the penalty spot for his consecutive penalty goal to rescue a point against Colombia, who had scored earlier.
