Thursday Lock Ups

 



Who pays for the man hour lost due to Thursdays environmental sanitation? Shops and businesses are forced to lock up to clean the environment. But must one disrupt the other? The other one is the enforced restriction of movement during monthly environmental sanitation exercise. This has been re-introduced in Rivers State, and the Chairman of RIWAMA Board, Samuel Nwanosike, who was to work behind the scenes, has been talking and puffing, as if he were the CEO. He had insisted on restriction on movement despite courts of competent jurisdiction ruling it as unconstitutional. He argued that the ruling had nothing to do with Rivers State. How ignorant.

For instance, on our way from Kwara to Rivers State sometime in 2013, we met the exercise in Ekiti State. We were detained until 10am though on a federal road and had no business with the state. It is trite to state that environmental sanitation is good, even encouraged for healthy living. But insisting people must stay at home is an infringement of their fundamental human rights. It must stop.


A productive country does not confined the people  weekly and monthly for several hours in the name of sanitation. It's gross. We need to do better and encourage productivity.

Nigeria Cannot Afford a One Party System

  It is not a secret that the ruling APC is bent on destroying the opposition and coast home in the 2027 General Election. It has dismantled the the opposition PDP and the upcoming ADC that Nigerians fear that the 2027 elections might just be a coronation exercise despite their displeasure with the ruling party. Good for PDP, some people might say, as the then ruling party from 1999 till 2015 introduced impunity into politics. It was then a Behemoth that swallowed all-30 Governors and a trifecta majority in the House of Reps and Senate and the states. FIFA U20 World Cup: Argentina Await Flying Eagles Battle in Round of 16

  The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will take on Argentina in the round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile. The Nigerian lads finished third in Group  to earn a place as one of the best losers after a pulsating 1-1 draw against Colombia early Monday morning. Captain, Daniel Bameyi scored from the penalty spot for his consecutive penalty goal to rescue a point against Colombia, who had scored earlier.
