OBAFEMI: From Unilag Shot Put to Global Icon

In 2017, Isaac Odugbesan was a University of Lagos undergraduate, who represented them in the short put event at the NUGA Games at the University of Agriculture in Makurdi.

fast Forward April, 2026, now widely known as OBA FEMI,  has taken the world by storm having signed for the WWE in 2021.

As Brock Lesnar was retiring, the WWE top guns needed somebody with a mass appeal and in comes the 28-year-old Nigerian. He did the job by knocking down Lesnar to bring and end to the era and open a new chapter at the recently concluded Wrestlemania 42 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas Nevada April 18-19.

Before that epic battle, WWE has in its characteristic manner, hyped the match, where the 310lb Oba had dealt with the fiery Lesnar. Lesnar in his days was a rugged battler and most of his comteporaries had had a taste of his raw power. But Oba- a towering mass of flesh has proved to be his nemesis, and the crowd loved him! His grand entries into matches in WWE Raw and others have been a carnival of sort with his strut and the crazy fans joining. Even videos have emerged in the WWE from different countries that watched Wrestlemania 42 joining Oba in his strut to the ring.

It was just a few years ago that Isaac had to chose between  representing Nigeria as a shot putter and the WWE when he was contacted on Instagram.. The 28-year-old chose the latter and the rest is history.
